Yaak Falls
Shot from near the campground
  Quality:

The undeveloped trailhead starts at the back of the campground and is just a short ΒΌ mile hike down a rocky trail to the falls. Yaak Falls, with the Kootenai National Forest as the background, tumbles down a glimmering bedrock surface of green Precambrian mudstone.
Access
From Troy drive west on US Highway 2, paralleling along the awesome Kootenai River, 14 miles to the Yaak River Road. Turn north on Montana State Highway (Yaak River Road) 6 miles to Yaak River Campground.
History
Yaak Falls are named after the Yaak Indian tribe who once populated this remote part of Montana. The ancient expose rock is dated somewhere between 850 million and 1.5 billion years old.
Camping
Yaak Falls Campground is a really sweet little pack-in pack-out campground that is nestled in a natural conifer forest setting. There are seven campsites with a maximum stay of 14 days. There are toilets, no drinking water available and no camping fees.
